Welcome to QuizUp, a quiz-based learning application for Sri Lankan O/L (Ordinary Level) and A/L (Advanced Level) students. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines what data we collect, how we use it, and the measures we take to keep it safe. By using QuizUp, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Data Collection and Use

Personal Information We Collect:

  • Mobile Number: to create your account and send verification codes for login.
  • Name: so we know what to call you in the app.
  • School Name: to personalize your experience (for example, to tailor content relevant to your school context).
  • Education Level: whether you are an O/L or A/L student, which helps us show you appropriate quizzes.
  • Exam Year: to track your progress and provide targeted support as you prepare for exams.
  • Quiz Scores: your results from taking quizzes in the app.

How We Use This Data:

We use the above information to analyze your performance and improve your experience. For example, we track your quiz scores to provide feedback, monitor progress, and suggest areas for improvement. Knowing your education level helps us present relevant quiz content. All data is used internally only to enhance the app's learning features.

Third-Party Services & Security

Google Firebase Analytics: QuizUp uses Google Firebase solely for Analytics services. This means we collect anonymous data about how you use the app (such as which quizzes are taken and if any errors occur) to help us understand usage patterns and fix issues. Importantly, we do not send your name, school, or any personally identifying information to Google Analytics.

Data Security: All data transmissions between your device and our servers are protected using SSL encryption (HTTPS), ensuring that any information you send or receive is securely encrypted. We also implement other industry-standard security practices to safeguard your information and prevent unauthorized access.

Data Sharing

  • No Third-Party Data Sharing: We do not sell, rent, or share your information with other companies or individuals. Your data remains with QuizUp and is used solely to support your learning experience.
  • No Ads: QuizUp does not display any third-party ads, and we do not use your data for advertising purposes.
  • No Payments: Our app does not include any payment gateways or in-app purchases, so we never collect financial information such as credit card numbers or payment details.

Account Deletion & User Rights

You have the right to control and delete your data. If you decide to stop using QuizUp, you can delete your account through one of the following methods:

Option 1: Delete Account In-App

You can delete your account directly through the QuizUp app at any time:

  1. Open the QuizUp app on your device
  2. Go to Profile in the bottom navigation
  3. Tap Settings (gear icon)
  4. Scroll down and select Delete Account
  5. Follow the confirmation steps to permanently delete your account

Option 2: Delete Account via Website

If you no longer have access to the app, you can request account deletion through our website:

  1. Visit our Account Deletion Page
  2. Enter your phone number associated with your QuizUp account
  3. Provide your email address for confirmation
  4. Submit your request
  5. We will process your deletion request within 48 hours and send confirmation to your email

Once your account deletion is confirmed, all your personal information and quiz results will be permanently removed from our servers. This process is irreversible, so please be sure before proceeding.

If you have questions about your data or wish to view what information we have about you prior to deletion, you can send us an email request to [email protected]. We will provide or delete your data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, respecting your rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information.

Account Creation & User Agreement

When creating an account on QuizUp, you agree to provide accurate and truthful information. This includes using your real name and other personal details. Using inappropriate or misleading information, such as fake names, may result in the suspension or termination of your account.

By creating an account, you also agree to abide by our terms of service and community guidelines. We reserve the right to review and take action against accounts that violate these terms, including but not limited to suspending or permanently banning users who engage in inappropriate behavior or provide false information.

Any attempts to hack, modify, or use unauthorized methods to gain an advantage in the app, such as artificially inflating quiz scores, will result in the immediate suspension or permanent banning of your account.

Please respect other users and the integrity of the app by providing accurate and truthful information. Use your real data and knowledge to enhance your learning experience and contribute positively to the QuizUp community.

Children's Privacy

QuizUp is designed for students in Grade 6 and above (approximately 11 years old and up). The app's content is strictly educational and appropriate for this age group. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 11. If you are under 11, please do not use the app or provide any personal details. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 11 has provided personal data, please contact us immediately, and we will take steps to delete the child's account and associated information.
